Page 5 - Celebration of Wildlife is Sri Lanka
P. 5

Introduction from our main Host, Conservationist and BBC Wildlife Presenter Giles Clark
You’ll have time to get to know wildlife expert Giles Clark and learn much more about the natural world as he leads us through this magical trip.
He is especially looking forward to Yala National Park which is said to offer “the Best Leopard Spotting on the Planet.” This is because in the absence of lions and tigers, the leopard is the apex predator here.
Giles says:
“The leopard is the ultimate cat, and there is no better place to see them in the wild than Sri Lanka! Here they are king, being the top apex predator; with the highest population density of this gracefully spotted cat anywhere in the world !
Sri Lanka is also regarded as a global biodiversity hot spot, characterised with a high level of endemic species only found in this region. Elephants on Sri Lanka are amongst the biggest individuals of this species and this is complemented by the coastal presence of the largest ever known animal on earth - the Blue Whale.
I am thoroughly looking forward to co-hosting this trip with Prestige Promotions led by Clive, as always their high standards along with some of the best wildlife viewing in Asia will make this a trip to remember.
